The role of the Treasurer is paramount to the success of your league/club/association. The most common factor that separates the success of any sports club or organisation is the effective and responsible management of their financial resources.
This program will focus on financial management together with other relevant issues that should be addressed in the context of a football league/club/association. The program will include the following:
- Exploring the roles and responsibilities of the Treasurer
- Budgeting – Expenses before Income
- Financial Reporting – Profit & Loss/Balance Sheets & Reporting Requirements
- Taxation Compliance – ABN’s & GST Registrations
- Reducing Operating Costs
- Player Payments including “is it taxable or is it a hobby”?
Whilst the session is not exhaustive in content or practical exercises, participants should leave the session with several tips on how to manage the finances of a football club/league/association and also become aware of the legal reporting and taxation requirements that exist in football clubs.
